Why do I procrastinate?
Why why why?
I could have made phone calls over a month ago to get electricians in to provide quotes on finishing the rewiring job my Dad started and abandoned.
I could have gotten A/C people in shortly after that who would have told me about the ENORMITY of the job to get central air installed in this old house, and I could have bought a nice window unit or two to run off the completed rewiring job.
But I let it all ride because my next door neighbor loaned me a little window unit and I was coasting on that. I was going to start getting A/C quotes next week.
The neighbor took the unit away 3 hours ago. He sold it to a guy at work with a pregnant fiancee. *sighs*
So I've been on the BBB website and in the Yellow Pages and on the phone. One A/C guy has already left (hence my knowledge about ENORMITY), and another will be here within the hour. I should probably call and tell him not to bother, but it will be nice to get a second quote, even though the work won't be able to be done this year, in all likelihood. Or possibly EVER if the quotes are too hideous.
Two electricians (recommended by the A/C guy, which makes life easier) will be calling me Monday and Tuesday to come out and give me quotes.
Meanwhile, looks like I should maybe get a hotel room for a couple of days, until the rains come through and cool things down a little. Right now it's 85 and feels like 92. (28 and 31 C, for you wacky foreigners.) But then I'd have no computer! *clings to you all*
Why why why? Don't procrastinate, people. *head/desk*

Hope you get it fixed soon.

The upside to the hotel, free wifi, so you can chill in the bar with the laptop sipping maitais and writing hot jack/daniel.

Two nights at the Microtel are cheaper than one little window unit (unless prices have been slashed at this point from where they were a few weeks ago, and that could very well be.)
I will definitely be investing in window units, and then if we decide to go with the central air, the window units can go in the estate sale! That's my current clever plan. ;-)

my coach used to say, when I was feeling frustrated and down on myself, "Just do what you can."

I love it when it's NOT to hot for work outside and little wind keeps the bloody insect word off me ;)

It didn't work out very well for me either.
Needless to say, I commiserate with your heat and a/c difficulties, and I hope you have it all worked out and comfy soon.
