I think I remember Sara saying that Jack never cried when Charlie died, unlike the crystal entity, which had no problem shedding a tear.

We see grief and pain, but not tears. I think. Well, I don't have a big screen TV, and my eyesight sucks, so if there were or weren't tears I'd never really be sure.
