I had to find the piece of paper that I brought home from the wine tasting before I could respond! The Riesling was Chateau Ste. Michelle. And I didn't make a note of the price (it would have been the price the bar sold it at anyway, not a retail store price). It was called Saint "M" Riesling 2004.

The glasses of wine weren't full *g*, although you could undoubtedly go back as many times as you wanted. And the SIL and I would each get a different wine, and then share our samples with each other. (45 minute drive home, and only cheese and crackers under our belts).

I've kept a Wine Journal for the past year, and I'm sure that almost all of them are under $20 - that's pretty much our cut-off, too.

We have one Riesling in the journal = Kiona 2003 from Columbia Valley (Washington? I think so). It cost us $9.99, and is one of the dry rieslings, rather than sweet.

Columbia Crest has a good Chardonnay under their Two Vines label. We paid $7.49. Don't know if we've had their Merlot, if so, it didn't make it into the journal.

Learning about wine, and becoming an "author" = my two new hobbies since being laid off four years ago. Both tons of fun, but I haven't made any new friends from drinking wine :-) Maybe if we keep going to these tastings that could change!
