I really like these two pieces, especially the friendship ceremony enacted by the aliens. Somehow, the similarities of the ritual to marriage rites kind of push home the point that love in whatever form, whether be it platonic, sexual or familial, is still precious and should be cherished.

Jack is a real darling in this fic, so sweet... *devolves momentarily to mush* Jack's wooing of Daniel is a nice surprise, as I had expected him to just go to Daniel and have the requisite 'every-man-would-fear-and-wish-to-avoid-at-all-cost-by-pretending-hockey-and-beer-is-oh-so-more-important' talk before the smut ensues.
