When RDA's name popped up on the guest starring scroll on Fairly Legal I tweeted excitement, because I had no idea. It wasn't until the very last scene when he showed up, but still a good one. I also have suspicions as to what "type" of character he may be but I also have doubts that a USA Network show would take it there. Will have to see.

There was talk that Kate's brother is supposed to be gay, but all the show has given us is that he has had a failed marriage and is taking care of their baby daughter. If it turns out he is actually gay, then I applaud the show for depicting him as a regular person and not being blatant about it.

Nathan Fillion had mentioned that he would love to return to Firefly and that if he won the lottery he would buy the rights and make the show himself. So a campaign was borne to raise the money. Somehow I don't see Joss giving up the rights so easily.

I've been watching FL since Ep One, just waiting for teh RDA yumminess to appear! I hadn't heard any rumors about Kate's brother. Wait - maybe I heard rumors about her assistant, Leo?

Maybe Nathan and Joss could be partners. And make the new series a prequel to the movie, please. *pets Wash and Book*

I like the show. It's been more fulfilling than I thought it would be given the premise.

The rumors I heard were definitely about her brother. Although, I admit that I really like Leo. He is one of those secondary characters that has too much awesome. Plus, not only is he a gamer, but he plays World of Warcraft. :-)

It's awesome that he's such a geek! And pretty adorable, too.

When I read the spoilers, my first thought was 'secret gay lover', although my slash goggles may have slipped down from my forehead. :P I kinda hope that is the case as long as the writers are mature enough not to fall into the cliché traps. But I haven't seen the show and I don't know much about the network so I will take your opinion for it. ;)

I thought he was great, the master of understated. I hope he does get more screen time in his other 2 episodes.

It was definitely my slash goggles pinging there. It's just that USA doesn't have a good track record for gay visibility. Not a terrible one, just not a prominent one. There is still a possibility. It's not like the show is on CBS. And then there's the factor of whether or not RDA would be willing to play a gay character.

I have a feeling that if the character was gay, that decision would have been made before RDA was cast as it would be such an important part of the story line if the character were involved with her father.

I don't know much about gay representation on American tv, sorry. Here they try to slip in the old teen experimenting with their sexuality every few years on the Aussie soaps, but it never lasts very long I'm afraid and our industry is largely cop shows that are more plot than character driven.

I think he'd be slightly more likely to play a gay character if he didn't have to actually depict the relationship, what with the partner being dead and all. He might be more comfortable with it at this point in his career, too.

Years ago I confessed about writing slash to a gay friend, and sent him a pic of Jack and Daniel. He responded: That looks like MacGyver! I told him that it was, and he said: I've always thought that RDA's gay.

This confirmation gives me a lot of sekrit happiness, lol.

I've long suspected RDA is gay, and I feel really bad for him if that's the case, not b/c of the gay but because of the closetedness. I just hope that if he IS gay and closeted, behind closed doors he's happy at least.

If he came out now it wouldn't be such a big deal for his career, but I'm not sure the world could take the inevitable jokes about how he makes lube out of a shoelace, a chocolate chip cookie, and a bottlecap.

Oh, dear, yes the jokes would be awful.

I hope he's happy, too. We all know how happy his daughter makes him! She may be the one thing he really wanted out of life.

it was nice to see RDA there. what did she say: that he looks "better after gaining some weight?"

She did say that, and I wonder if it's supposed to have some deeper meaning, like he was too thin when he got out of prison, or something. Because that's not a typical compliment!

Or at least nobody's ever said it to me, and I've certainly given them the opportunity, lol.

I hope that we get the chance to see it over here too....

And can I just say how fucking excited I am that I'm finally going to get to meet The Man in person in May.....and get one of my fav shots of MS and RDA together signed...(already signed by Michael of course!)...now all I have to do is pluck up the courage to ask for a {{{{{Hug}}}}}} from Rick at the photo op....

Ooops...babbling now...I'll shut up...but prison tattoo?..be still my beating heart!....

I have been watching this show from the first ep to see RDA, but I couldn't find out exactly WHAT eps he'd be in. Luckily, it's a cute little show even without him--nothing that'll ever win an Emmy but you could find worse ways to kill an hour.

Now to the squee: GLASSES!!!!! MILITARY HAIR!!!!! And he's lost a bit of weight, surely not back to s6 SG-1 (my personal fave RDA look), but enough that his face looks really good.

I am hoping that he turned out to be Mr. Reed's prison boyfriend. I don't think it's very likely, but hope springs eternal for the slasher in me.

It is a cute show. I've thoroughly enjoyed it while waiting for RDA to turn up - and they sure did make it impossible to find out when that would be! I'll undoubtedly keep watching after his episodes are finished. (I'm hoping they'll find a reason to bring him back later on, though.)

RDA was on steroids for a while, I think, and that can definitely puff up the face. He does look better now. And better with a little weight on him than he looked in Season 8, when he looked so thin and strained.

I can't wait for his next episode! :-)
