The Sweat Of His Brow, J/D, PG

THE SWEAT OF HIS BROW
Daniel closed his eyes and pictured Jack in his gray tee-shirt. Jack had had that shirt as long as Daniel had known him, and it was worn and soft from countless washings. At least it looked soft. Daniel had never actually touched it, but he had wanted to, often. But now, with his eyes closed, if he really concentrated he could imagine how it would feel, the softness over the hard body...
Jack is a little bit sweaty; he’s been working in his yard. When Daniel touches his chest, the tee-shirt is warm from the sun. Daniel presses his palm over Jack’s heart and feels it begin to beat a little faster. He lets his hand roam, and feels hard nipples poking up beneath the cotton. He steps to the side and moves his hand to Jack’s shoulder. Muscle and bone. He can smell clean sweat. He’s close enough to see every...individual...eyelash.
Daniel groaned quietly, and his own lashes fluttered.
His hand moves to Jack’s strong back, and, as he strokes up and down it appreciatively, he feels the fabric catch slightly against the damp skin it covers. Jack’s body is radiating heat, and Daniel’s body is responding. Sweat beads at Jack’s temple, and Daniel leans in and presses his lips against the moist flesh, catching the droplet as it begins to fall. He tastes salt and feels smooth, warm, slick skin. He feels Jack quiver against him. He lifts his head and sees Jack looking at him from the corner of his eye. He shifts his focus to Jack’s mouth, to thin, expressive lips, slightly parted.
Daniel’s own lips curved, and he licked them, almost able to taste that lingering drop of imaginary sweat.
He moves to face Jack, sliding his left arm around his waist, and the other over his shoulder. The fingers of his right hand explore the short, wet hair at Jack’s nape. Jack’s eyes stare hungrily at his mouth. He moves closer; their chests press together; Jack’s body heat encompasses him. His lips hover millimeters from Jack’s. Their breath intermingles; Jack’s arms are pulling him closer; Jack is murmuring his name...
“Daniel?”
“What?” Daniel’s eyes shot open, and he stared up from his deck chair to where Jack stood over him.
Jack grinned. “You were asleep, weren’t you? What’d you do, stay up all night reading something boring?”
“No,” Daniel shifted in his chair. “And I wasn’t asleep.”
“Sure,” Jack said agreeably. “Whatever you say.” He sank down into the chair next to Daniel and picked up his bottle of water. As he drank thirstily, Daniel watched his throat work, watched sweat trickle down his face and neck to be soaked up by the worn gray tee-shirt.
Daniel’s fingers twitched.
