"Julia Brent of the WAAC". It was given to my mother by her aunt in 1943, and she passed it along to me. It's about a girl who joins the Women's Auxiliary Army Corps when it is founded in the aftermath of Pearl Harbor. There's romance! (not to mention illicit fraternization) Adventure (secret Nazi spies)!

Name a movie you own on DVD/VHS/whatever that you think no-one else on your friendslist does:
D.W. Griffith's "Intolerance" (1916). It's not only black-and-white, it's SILENT!

Name a place that you have visited that you think no-one else on your friendslist has:
Corydon, Indiana. It was the first state capital of Indiana, but I was there to tour the Turtle Run Winery.

Name a piece of technology or any sort of tool you own that you think no-one else on your friendslist has:
I still own all my tools for making bassoon reeds. Including a reamer. *eg*

I own "The Cabinet" as well. V. freaky film. And it had me completely fooled the first time I saw it! I'm not entirely sure if I've seen "Birth of a Nation" in its entirety or just clips of it. Silent films can be great. Valentino, Chaplin, Keaton, Garbo....

Just like I figured Flute might be familiar with making bassoon reeds, I thought that you would be most likely to know about The Mills Brothers. In fact, I had to eliminate quite a lot of my CD's based on us being contemporaries :-)

My eclectic tastes in men is also reflected in my tastes in music. I have a lot that probably no one else has or would want. ;oD

I've got a lot of classical music, and 40's and 50's swing/pop. Let's see, blues, rock'n'roll, tiny amounts of New Age and country. Some fairly new stuff (y'know, from bands/artists that are still living, touring, recording, lol). Great American Songwriters series with people like Irving Berlin and George Gershwin and Hoagy Carmichael. No rap, though.

And of course, my prize possessions: my two Leonard Nimoy albums. *G*

I was just at ITunes buying songs again...this time a Scottish ballad called MacPherson's Lament and the almost-making-me-squee Chad Mitchell Trio featuring young John Denver singing 'She Loves You.' Yes, the Beatles tune.

I have a lot of Celtic stuff to write by, 60's and 70's pop, some contemporary country and folk-sy stuff. I even have a filk tape. The only stuff I don't have is opera or rap. :oP

I envy you your Nimoy albums of course but I have the memory of him taking my hand and saying 'How do you do'. :oD
