Daniel finished snapping the parachute into place and tugged gently on the chains. “How’s that feel?”

“I’ve got some weights to hang on there as the evening goes along. Just a little something to hold your attention until midnight.”
“Gives a whole new meaning to ‘the ball dropping’, doesn’t it?”
Daniel snickered. “We’ll drop them both. Wouldn’t want you winding up lopsided.”
“You’re too good to me.”
“I intend to be even better to you in the New Year. I have lots of plans for us.”
“Roll on, midnight,” Jack murmured, leaning in for a kiss.
