In The Beginning, Stargate the Movie drabble, rated G

About 10 minutes after logging out of chat last night, I was in bed.  And about 3 minutes after that, I was up and fumbling my way to the computer to write this...

IN THE BEGINNING


She was a very beautiful woman. But beautiful women weren’t usually his thing.

On the other hand, he would never have imagined that Air Force colonels were his thing. Yet he could readily imagine seeing Jack O’Neil’s face each time he closed his eyes at night. For the next fifty years or so.

But Jack had gone home to his wife. And Daniel was here with…his.

And she was a very beautiful woman.

Life was a series of surprises. Some a lot more pleasant than others. This was one of the best.

And what might have been, would never be.

Oh, the last line broke my heart and yet was uplifting at the same time. Because, while you can ponder and mull over the "what ifs" forever--that only makes it harder to COMPLETELY live in, and ENJOY, the here and now.

Just lovely...
