NO COMMON GROUND
“Daniel.”
“Jack?”
“We have absolutely nothing in common.”
“True.” Daniel pursed his lips. “It’s a wonder we’ve stayed friends this long.”
“I didn’t mean that!” Jack protested.
Daniel smiled. “I know. So, what? I like wine and you like beer.” He shrugged.
“Right,” Jack agreed.
“Chinese food.”
“Pizza.”
“Books.”
“Movies.”
“Documentaries.”
“Sports,” Jack said emphatically.
“Museums.” There was a long pause. “Jack?”
“I’m trying to decide what the opposite of a museum is.” Daniel snorted. “Ah! Fishing!”
“Okay,” Daniel nodded, “bottoming.”
“What?” Jack’s eyes widened in surprise.
“You heard me,” Daniel said, looking at Jack challengingly.
“Really?” A smile slowly spread across Jack’s face.
“That’s not an answer,” Daniel murmured, lips twitching.
“Topping,” Jack said with a gleam in his eye.
“Still think we’d never make it as a couple?”
Jack shifted a little closer to Daniel on the couch, and placed a hand on his thigh. “I’m willing to admit when I’ve been wrong.”
“That’s one of the things I like best about you,” Daniel sighed. He reached out for Jack, and they sank eagerly into each other’s arms, lips pressing, moving, parting. Hands clutching, roaming, stroking. Hearts beating faster, excitement growing.
Joyous proof that opposites really do attract.
