Everything hinges on this moment...

A MOMENT IN THE BALANCE 

Jack was plastered against his side, half-draped over him. "I wasn't expecting this," Jack said. And it sounded like he was regretting what had happened. It sounded like acute discomfort and withdrawal.

But the plastering, the draping...

Mixed signals from Jack O'Neill, the straightest straight-shooter Daniel had ever known? Had he pushed too hard, too soon?

"Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition," Daniel said lamely, cursing the betraying tremor in his voice.

Jack gave a bark of laughter. His head came up, his eyes met Daniel's, and they were shining and clear.

Beaming, Daniel tightened his hold. He'd gotten it right.
