BRITTLE

Bend, don’t break.  Don’t let them see how close...

 

Bone-exhausted.  But there’s no rest.  Don’t break.  There’s still…

 

Daniel deserves a medal.  If I live long enough…

 

Don’t.  I will live, and I’ll make sure...

 

Most days, he’s the only thing standing between us and death, and I know it if nobody else does.  I see what it does to him, one piece of his soul at a time.  I knew he had courage, but I never realized how much. 

 

Or how much I love him.

 

We haven’t seen him for three days now.  He’s all alone with that monster.

That's SO heartwrenching!

But my mind is screaming now. Who has them? What are they doing to Daniel? What will happen when Daniel and Jack are reunited??? I have to know!

"We" haven't seen him indicates that Daniel is the only one being singled out. "I knew he had courage, but I never realized how much," could actually suggest that wherever he is, he went there willingly, knowing Daniel he probably traded himself for the others. (Although, that is my VERY FAVORITE plotline in any fandom so I could be projecting here. LOL.)

Seriously, you got so much true Jack emotion into this little drabble it's incredible. I would love to know what the backstory is, what the resolution is. Please consider continuing this, even if it's ust a series of drabbles, segments from different points of view along the wa, just enough for us to get the plot.

Anyway, thank you for sharing.

Poor boys. Though for once I won't be nagging you for more. There's just so much Daniel H/C fic already out there. It's overwhelmingly popular in SG ficdom. The SG Fanawards had 19 stories nominated for best H/C story this year and every one of them was Daniel H/C. I can't remember the last Jack H/C story I saw - and of course if you have any to rec please let me know :)

There's just something about Daniel that is obviously very whump-able. I wish I could think of something to rec for you!

There may be more to this story after all. I've had a few thoughts occur to me. None of the thoughts have anything to do with the comfort part of H/C, unfortunately. Don't know if I'll ever get that far. Um. "And then they were rescued, and they felt much better, and everybody lived happily ever after."

I have tentative plans for a Daniel POV on this, but I haven't gotten as far as a rescue of any kind. Although, obviously they WILL be rescued somehow!

My first thought was that it was during the time the team was in the mine and Daniel was getting addicted to the sarcophagus.

Now, off to read Daniel's POV and find out what's really going on.
