I just got home from a fun evening. My SIL found a local (well, fairly) wine-tasting group by doing an on-line search. We were pretty wall-flowery, it being our first time, but everyone seemed quite friendly, and the organizers made a point of speaking to us and filling us in on what the group is all about. It's for both singles and couples for one thing, which makes for a nice blend of ages and types.

There was live music (one guy on acoustic guitar singing 70's-80's type stuff), cheese and meat and crackers, Ciroc vodka martinis (extremely tiny tinis) to kick things off, and 8 kinds of wine to taste.

Pinot Grigio from California, Riesling from Washington State, Chardonnay from Napa Valley, and Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand for the whites. Australian Shiraz and California Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon for the reds.

There is another get-together in two weeks at a place called The Blu Martini, which we saw once on TV and wanted to try out, so we may go to that, too. It's only $15 a head, so not bad at all price-wise. :-) We may try actually talking to other people next time!
