A little too much excitement
Jul. 30th, 2013 06:47 amNot long before sunrise I heard the dog next door barking, which is extremely rare. Then I heard raised voices. I peeked out the front door, thinking my annoying neighbors to the south who like to scream at each other out in the street were at it again, although I was surprised they'd be at it that early/late. Instead, I saw a police vehicle parked in front of the house next door to the north. There's a parking lot to their north, and I was kind of assuming something was going on in the parking lot.
I went to poke an ear out my back door to see if I could hear anything more.
There were four or five policemen in my yard. And more in the neighbor's yard. An officer came up onto the porch when he saw me at the door, and told me in a nice, soothing voice, "Just somebody we were looking for. WE FOUND HIM ON YOUR NEIGHBOR'S PORCH. We'll be out here a while." As two officers searched my tool shed...
I heard an officer in the yard next door saying to the suspect, "Are you trying to tell me this isn't you?"
Yesterday surveillance camera footage was released of the suspect in two restaurant burglaries that happened last week. I'm betting the officer was showing the suspect that photograph.
So, apparently the suspect was identified to the police, tracked down, and pursued. He and a companion (that was still ON THE LOOSE IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD) ditched their car in the alley RIGHT BEHIND MY HOUSE and fled on foot. The companion was clearly more successful at this. o_O
The police left some men behind to "make sure no one comes south down this block", and the search moved away. An hour later there were still police vehicles in front and officers on foot in the alley.
The next time I looked they, and the abandoned vehicle OF CRIME were gone. I don't know if they ever found the other man.
I hope they looked underneath my front porch before they left. *flails*
