Beth, a SG-1 fan and writer by way of her love of RDA and MacGyver, needs our help! She's writing a gen late season two fic which will contain heaping helpings of Daniel, and she wants to make sure she does the character full justice. So take the time, if you will, to head over to [livejournal.com profile] bethinexile and gush answer her questions about what you like about Daniel, what you like to see/hate with a passion regarding Daniel in fic, what Daniel-moments made you squee on the show and so on.

(She's completely J/D compliant, it just isn't applicable to the story she's working on. *g*)

I replied, although it's really hard to sum up my Daniel love. :-)

I saw the term "Danielite" used in one response. I always bristle when I see that, since it was used perjoratively back in the day. Is it just me who reacts this way?

I've definitely seen it used in a non-complimentary way. It was a long time ago but it still makes me uneasy and defensive. I am a Daniel fan and proud of it. Hear me roar. Heh.

Hee.

I'm hoping you might hear another roar later. England play Italy in the European Championships quarter-finals in about an hour. Lucky pants to the fore!

I think it means "Good luck ... you're going to need it."

Which does indeed apply in this case.

I get very nervous before important footie matches. And given that it's England, I usually end up disappointed. It's a fatal combination!

Uh-oh. Did I use the term? I don't think so. I'll make a note to avoid it, if it's got bad history.

Thank you so much for the input!!

No, no you didn't use it! One of the respondents did. It's fine. Just a reminder of a not-so-pleasant time in fandom.

And you're very welcome, as regards the input. You may have noticed that we Daniel fans are passionate and verbose. Very like the man himself!

Good luck with the fic. :-)

passionate and verbose

I was rather counting on that. *g*

My brief experience to date with writing Daniel (when he wasn't in a non-speaking feline role) left me with the impression that, if I ended up out of breath after writing his dialogue, I was probably on the right track.
