DW and LJ both seem a wee bit quiet at the moment. I mean, when I collapse into bed for ten hours, and don't have to do any "skipping" to catch up on my reading/friends lists, something is awry.

Yeah, yeah, it's not like I contribute much, generally. Maybe this will make up for it? :-D

So...real life, fandom, random TV and movies, recipes, current events, family, seasonal, miscellaneous.

Very randomly, I bought some mint not long ago, without having a plan of what to do with it. Eventually, I made it into pesto and bought some lamb to put it on. I also discovered it was very good on a sweet potato. (Amnesia at the supermarket led me to bring home 3 sweet potatoes, believing I only had 1 at home. I had 5. Arggh.) I've decided my tastebuds are OFF today, since I ate a sweet potato with mint pesto for lunch, and it was Not Good.

OTOH, the martini I'm sipping tastes mighty fine! I like Perfect Martinis (uses equal parts of red and white vermouth) with a few dashes of bitters. Mmm.

I'm not panicking yet about my trip to Calgary weekend after next. Not yet. SOON. I'm considering whether to attempt to get autographs from RDA and MS in addition to the photo op... I'm already spending a fortune, so I can't let that stop me! Good sense is being thrown to the winds, here. :-)

I looked out my back door around 5 pm today, and thought I saw 3 squirrels out there. A closer look revealed that the object farthest away was actually a bunny. Oh, and a couple of days ago (I park out back) I climbed in my car and started it, and a rabbit raced away down the side of the house. It is trying very hard to be spring! Bunnies are proof!

Random TV and movies: I finally watched The Avengers, requiring an 'Avengers for Dummies' cheat sheet to have a clue what was going on. I thought about it a lot the following two days or so, but it's basically all gone out of my head by now. I enjoyed it enough at the time to consider watching all the films that led up to it. I don't know. I was a DC comics gal growing up, but I don't even care about all the movies that have been based on those. I did like the first Christopher Reeve films!

Random family: my nephew is getting married October 19th. Gee, do I need to buy a dress???

The weather has been crappy--seven inches of snow over the weekend. Work is never ever ending! On the up side, I made candy apple pie over the weekend. It was very tasty. And there have been a handful of words lurking around my fingers. And... as I'm getting ready for bed, there's a scruffy Daniel in scrubs on TV (Legacy).

I'm looking forward to the fangirl sqee after the con, and yes, you need a new dress. Because.

Fingers crossed that we're done with snow in southern Wisconsin. Candy apple pie sounds Very Yummy! I already cheered on your writing. *g* I just discovered a "Saving Hope" episode on my PC today, so I saw a clean-cut Charlie.

Yeah, might need a dress, since the one? two? I have are from the 90s!

I still need to figure out how to get to the Expo from the hotel...and to the hotel from the airport. No hotel shuttle???

i don't know. maybe. isn't a nice pants suit good enough? i've never been to a wedding and my fashion sense is very limited.

I do have a couple of pant suits in storage, but they could in no way be considered "nice", lol. I need more information! I don't even know if they're getting married in a church. (They just moved to the city where the wedding will be quite recently) It's probably worth getting a dress, assuming it will last me for another twenty years. *g*

Hey, while I have you here: At some point the NC-17 Jack/Daniel cliffhanger "sex pollen" fic at arboreal_gate will be completed and assembled/edited to be posted at Archive of Our Own. As one of the contributors, are you agreeable to having the fic posted at Ao3?

I could be looking at it all wrong, but I didn't find any useful bus routes when I checked. And that redarrow looks to be an inter-city route. I'm going to have to ask my friendly travel agent to figure it out for me!

ETA: that redarrow might have something for me after all. Will study it further! :-)

I've been reading up on the chapter of a book, but most of all I am pleased as punch that spring seems to have arrived. We are above zero degrees and my hydrangea made it through this winter.

Also, I really could do without going to work today. *sighs*

If you're going this far for them, I'd go for autos if you can....they will normally personalise too, especially Michael AND it's an extra bit of time to chat to them....well worth it.....


As for journal deadness, LJ is deader than the last dodo standing.... has been for a year imho.....people were so put off by all the DDoS and the movment of much of fandoms to Tumblir....I miss many of my old friends on there, as a lot of non-D/J and ex-SG-1 peeps have moved on to other blogs....:(

Hi! I'm covered up at work and can't seem to get anything done.

THus, my bad habits are creeping back in.

But I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Am reading "Small Gods" and not enjoying it nearly as much as "Guards! Guards!", probably because it's so heavily burdened with BIG IDEAS draped lightly in STORY.

But it's good, and unique.

It's supposed to rain today, which is good.

As you know, Im really enjoying Avengers fandom, mostly because I fell in love with Downey's Iron Man in the first Iron Man movie. And then we have all the rest of the dvd's because the kids love them.

It's nice to share a fandom with my family.... the prince loves the canon too.

I am hoping to get back to the sex pollen fic soon. Real life is still eating my lunch but slightly less.

I lurk mostly now because I have a 9 month old baby that is developmentally behind and needs a gazillion therapies. We recently moved from the southside of Chicago to around the stateline of WI and I really haven't unpacked much. I have a million things bookmarked, but I haven't read anything because I don't know how to save things and move them to my e-reader.

Oh, and I am watching The West Wing nonstop on netflix because I never saw it the first time around and I am hooked right now.
Oh, and I never post. Like ever. And I hate tumblr and want my fandoms to move back to the more functional journals. Though not as far back as when everything I wanted to read I had to order though mail or exchange at a con. When I was on bedrest for this pregnancy - my supersurprise holycrap I didn't know I could still have babies pregnancy- I had the hubs dig out some very old Trek fanzines and had fun comparing how slash was written in the early 80s and how it is written now.

Um, that's about it. And it's raining here too. And I am also excited to see your con report. And I think I want to make brownies.

I can dictate notes to myself on my cell, so hopefully I will remember to do that while things are fresh in my mind, so I can report adequately later!

So many people in my dwircle are into Avengers that I thought I should give it a shot. It was tough going for someone who hadn't seen any of the previous movies and didn't know the characters at all (other than the Hulk, thanks to Bill Bixby, naturally!)

The day was not too bad, and in the afternoon I met with some ex-colleagues and we had icecream because our temperatures were very nearly 10C.

As I said I have taken the covers off most of my plants, and hope to buy some viola cornuta for one container, so that it looks like spring has really arrived. This evening I'm off to another meeting which I hope will be finished by midnight.

From tomorrow on there is at least one lunch invitation per day. Tomorrow for Italian, Friday for tea, Saturday for breakfast and lunch and Sunday for a reception (lunch and tea) at a friend's whose youngest son celebrates his confirmation. So much to look forward to! *g*

I know that the last Pratchett I read was about a newspaper, but I can't remember the title. It was very good!

We're practically neighbors, since I'm one county north of the WI state line. :-)

I haven't seen any West Wing since it left the air, but I definitely saw every single episode before that. I'm not very interested in politics at all, but they made learning about it not just painless, but completely entertaining. And I've always been a Sheen fan.

Tumblr is bizarre. I keep forgetting how lame it is, and I'll click to see what these 32 people had to say about what I'm looking at. Of course they don't say anything, they just re-post whatever it is. I don't get it.

Oh these busy times are generally alternating with long stretches without an invitation, so then it is my turn to invite others. *g* I try to limit these occurances to no more than twice a week. Maybe it only works because my friends live mostly in town so we do not have to drive great distances to meet.
