After a brief pause, Daniel said, “Goodnight, Jack.” Jack could hear the smile in his voice.

“You’re a madman,” he growled. Daniel’s eyes narrowed. “You’ll pay for that remark.” Jack’s mouth twitched. “You’d be more threatening if you didn’t have sauce on your nose.” Daniel smiled coolly. “You’ll pay for that remark, too.”

“Never again, Jack. I swear. Never anything like this again.” Daniel said. “Please don’t cry any more.”
