I just used whatever 10 movies came to mind.
- 1. Casablanca(Yes, I'm not sleeping, again, but since I slept until noon it's only natural, right?)
Many of the actors who played the Nazis were in fact German Jews who had escaped from Nazi Germany
2. Singin' in the Rain
Gene Kelly insulted Debbie Reynolds for not being able to dance. Fred Astaire, who was hanging around the studio, found her crying under a piano and helped her with her dancing.
3. Stalag 17
William Holden's acceptance speech for Best Actor was the shortest in Academy history. He said only two words: "Thank You."
4. The Best Years of Our Lives
In a scene at Butch's bar, Homer asks Butch if he would play a song for him. "How about 'Lazy River?'" Homer asks. "Remember that?" Hoagy Carmichael, who plays Butch, composed "Lazy River."
5. Master and Commander
Paul Bettany also co-starred with Russell Crowe in the 2001 film "A Beautiful Mind". As in "Master and Commander", the two are friends and confidants.
6. Breakfast at Tiffany's
The famous black dress worn by Audrey Hepburn in the opening scenes of this movie was sold for $807,000 on December 4, 2006 at Christie's Auction House in London. Making it the second most expensive piece of movie memorabilia ever sold. The first is the Best Picture Oscar for 'Gone with the Wind'.
7. North by Northwest
Jessie Royce Landis played Thornhill's (Cary Grant's) mother, yet she was only seven years older than he was.
8. Pillow Talk
In the diner scene near the end, the restaurant patrons were supposed to deck Tony Randall, who would fake a reaction to the blow and slide down "unconscious" in the booth seat. However, during filming the actor overestimated his hook and accidentally knocked out Randall for real. The shot wound up being so good that the accidental knockout is the one shown in the film.
9. Gidget
The producer wanted Elvis Presley to play the leading male role but the studio declined because Presley was at the time too expensive.
10. A Night at the Opera
A total of 15 people were in the famous stateroom scene:- Driftwood (1)
- the stowaways Fiorello, Tomasso and Riccardo [who were in the trunk] (2-4)
- two chambermaids (5-6)
- an engineer who comes to turn off the heat (7)
- a manicurist (8)
- the engineer's burly assistant (9)
- a young woman looking for her Aunt and asking to use the phone (10)
- a cleaning woman (11)
- and four staff stewards bearing trays of food (12-15).
- They all tumble out when Mrs. Claypool (Margaret Dumont) opens the door.
