REAWAKENINGS
“Daniel.”
“Daniel.”
Sam poured herself and Teal’c a second cup of coffee.
“Rise and shine.”
Indistinct mutterings issued from the nearby tent.
“Come on, sleepyhead.”
“Go ‘way.”
Sam grinned into her mug. Daniel was so predictable.
“Time to get moving.”
A loud groan. “Five minutes.”
“No can do.”
The sound of a sleeping bag being unzipped.
“Jack! It’s freezing!”
“Get up and put some clothes on and you’ll hardly notice.”
Teal’c slanted a glance towards Sam and she grinned back at him.
“Daniel.”
“Hey!” There was a whoop of laughter and one side of the tent convulsed. “Jack!”
“You never learn.”
More helpless laughter.
Teal’c tilted his head as he listened. “Captain Carter. Would you not consider Daniel Jackson to be inordinately ticklish?”
“Maybe,” Sam answered. “Or maybe he’s just a little bit happy.” She smiled as she sipped her coffee.
Teal’c gave her a sharp look, then nodded slowly.
There was a shout and suddenly the other side of the tent convulsed. Laughter was now coming in deep barks.
“Looks like Daniel got the upper hand,” Sam said, eyebrows high. “Guess that training in unarmed combat is paying off for him.”
“It will not last,” Teal’c said serenely.
Sure enough, seconds later Daniel emitted a squawk and the side of the tent smoothed out.
Sam couldn’t stop a little burst of giggles from escaping. The corner of Teal’c’s mouth curved a fraction of an inch.
“Why, you little pipsqueak.”
Sam checked her watch. “Much as I hate to break this up….” She handed her mug to Teal’c and crossed over to the tent. Crouching down, she lifted up the flap. “Sir.”
She was addressing her commanding officer’s rear end. A bare leg with a sock-clad foot was wrapped around his waist. He swiveled his head around and looked at her over his shoulder. “What is it, Carter?”
“Fifteen minutes to scheduled check-in, sir.”
“All right,” he panted.
Daniel arched his upper body to the side and gave her a grin. “Hey, Sam.”
“Good morning, Daniel,” she answered with as much composure as she could bring to bear.
Daniel, his face red with effort, kept arching, bringing his weight up onto his shoulders and getting his other leg around Jack. Jack’s arm buckled and he crash-landed on Daniel.
Both men oofed.
Sam ducked away, her hand covering her mouth tightly. Shaking her head, she rejoined Teal’c by the fire.
He handed her her coffee and gazed at the tent with an indulgent look on his normally solemn face. “Who is currently winning?”
She thought back thirteen months, to the chillingly withdrawn man who had led the second mission to Abydos and to the distraught husband they’d brought back with them.
“Oh, no you don’t,” was muttered fiercely behind her, and there was a unified peal of laughter.
Sam beamed at Teal'c. "I'd say it's a tie."

I came up with this idea when I went to bed Sunday night, didn't get up to write it (although I knew there was a risk I would forget the entire thing), didn't think of it when I was reading your story yesterday (hello, tent!!), and then suddenly realized last night while I was reading the newspaper that I had had a story idea! There was a brief moment of panic while I examined my blank mind for clues, and then *POP* it was there. LOL
