J/D Holiday drabble
Jul. 4th, 2008 04:46 pmALIENABLE RITES
There were sausages on bread, strangely shaped vegetables charred and glistening with oil. Cold salads, and something hot, yellow and spicy. Large birds slow roasted over sweet-smelling wood fires.
There was beer. Served at the ideal temperature, in mugs that perfectly maintained that perfection. Amber-hued, frothy, full-bodied. “Damn, that’s good!” Jack declared.
There were pies. Two fruit and one nut, still warm, paired with rich cheeses.
“Best treaty we ever signed,” Jack said happily.
