“We can do this, Jack.”
“Speak for yourself, there, Daniel.”
“Do you love me?”
Jack squirmed on the sofa.
“It’s just a ‘yes’ or a ‘no’, Jack. I’m not asking you to write me a sonnet.”
“You already know the answer.”
Daniel rolled his eyes. “Fine. I love you, too. We’re two intelligent adults… don’t make faces. I know you’re not nearly as stupid as you pretend to be.”
Jack sniffed.
“Nobody could be,” Daniel continued with a glare. “So there’s no reason why we shouldn’t at least try.”
“It’ll never work,” Jack insisted.
“I want a relationship with you.” Daniel took Jack’s hand. “Don’t you want me to be happy?”
“That’s cheating,” Jack mumbled.
“Please?” Blue eyes stared soulfully into Jack's.
Somehow Jack found his arms embracing Daniel. He sighed. “All right, we’ll try. But I’m warning you.” He tightened his hold. “It’s all going to end in tears.”
