INDISPENSABLE
John pulled his softening erection out of Rodney slowly, and rolled onto his side. He smiled down at his friend’s flushed face. “That was really great.” He touched Rodney’s damp stomach, ran his finger through Rodney’s come. “Okay for you?”
Rodney blinked up at him. “Sure.”
John felt his mouth twitch. “Sure? That’s it?”
Rodney wriggled a bit, flexing his shoulders. “It was great,” he said softly, with the beginnings of a smile.
“Really great,” John repeated happily. He bent to kiss Rodney. When he raised his head Rodney was beaming. “You look good this way.” At the other man’s questioning look, he explained, “Relaxed. I don’t think I’ve ever seen you this relaxed.”
“Busy. Busy, busy,” Rodney smirked.
“Still,” John said, tilting his head. “Everybody needs to relax. It’s healthy.”
“I relax.”
“Uh-huh.”
“I do! I frequently look exactly this way.” John started laughing. “Yes, well, you’re just not there to see it.”
“Is anybody?” John teased.
“Well, no. Sadly.” Rodney’s eyes flicked away from John.
“What a waste,” John murmured. Rodney began to pull away. “Hey! Where are you going?”
“Bathroom. Clean up.” Rodney waved a hand at himself. “I’m all sticky.”
John let go of him, and pulled himself upright on the bed, propping a pillow behind his back. Rodney climbed off the bed, and shot a glance backwards. John rearranged the covers over himself. “You coming back?” he asked casually.
“It’s late,” Rodney began, not looking at John.
“It’s so late that you might as well stay the rest of the night.” John watched his toes move underneath the covers.
“Oh! Yes, I hadn’t thought of it quite that way. Very logical. I will then,” Rodney babbled. “Stay, that is.”
John grinned at him. “Bring me a washcloth?”
“You bet.”
John watched Rodney’s fine ass disappear into the bathroom. He stretched his arms over his head, smiling. Remembering. Planning. When Rodney came back into the room, John slid down in the bed, pulling the covers back invitingly.
When John reached for the washcloth, Rodney said, “Um, I could do that? If you wouldn’t mind?” His eyes were nervous as they met John’s.
John felt his heart do something strange in his chest. “I wouldn’t mind,” he said.
The washcloth was warm and Rodney’s touch was soothing. John felt sleep begin to overtake him. Rodney carefully dried him with a corner of the sheet, and laid down beside him. “That was nice,” John sighed. He felt Rodney’s warm bulk nestling closer. “This is nice, too,” he said, eyes sliding closed.
Rodney’s hand slid down over John’s chest and stomach, and came to rest between his legs, cupping his genitals softly. John’s eyes shot open. “Is this okay?” Rodney asked in an anxious whisper.
John blinked up at the ceiling in surprise. “I was sort of planning on going to sleep now.”
“Me, too,” Rodney agreed. “I just…is it okay if I hold you like this?”
John smiled slowly in the darkness. “I’ll give you eight hours to stop.” Rodney made a snuffling sound that might have been laughter.
The next sound from Rodney was that of gentle snoring. John drifted on the edges of sleep, the warm weight of his new lover’s hand keeping him anchored. Deeply contented.
It was one of the things that made Rodney so valuable to the entire Atlantis community. He was full of good ideas. This just might be his best one yet.
