I've spent a good portion of my day going through photographs, and this one I have to share.

My paternal grandparents on their wedding day in 1923:

Photobucket

Isn't Grandma beautiful? She's 21 years old, and Grandpa is 25. I tend to forget about how short Grandpa was, but Grandma was under 5 feet tall on her best day. At the age of 7 I could fit perfectly into her shoes. But then I had big feet, because I was destined to reach 5'10"!

They were together for over 70 years, and Grandpa passed away just eight years ago, a few weeks after his 103rd birthday.

On a side note, this picture was taken just 2 years after the Jack/Daniel 1921 AU I'm still not writing.

ETA: 70th Anniversary photo

Photobucket

They learned how to smile. :-)

Beautiful shot!....I have a few that I need to sort through.....stuff from mine and Jim's side of the family and from my grandad who also died almost at 103 (two months away from it)...they made 'em strong in those days - his mother also lived till 97!...

Sadly so many of my family has passed away now, my oldest and closest family member is my dad's sister who is the one living over here in Canada....I can't wait to see her on Thursday....hopefully she'll have more family tales of long ago to tell to me!...

{{{{{Hugs}}}}}} and thanks for those precious pictorial memories....

Oh, that is so beautiful. Pics from that era have such an indefinable, special quality.
You're so lucky to have that shot. :-)

I love looking at old family photographs. With some of them, it seems I notice something different about them each time.

This one's gorgeous. And 70 years together! They don't make people like that anymore.

Not-yay for the not-written AU!

They were a lovely couple in 1923 and damn, if they weren't a lovely couple in 1993 too :-D

I love that they stayed together all those years. So cool to be able to celebrate your 70th! It can't have been plain sailing for them all that time (just think of what they lived through!) but they stuck with it and still kept smiling!
