I had to share
May. 3rd, 2010 01:51 amI've spent a good portion of my day going through photographs, and this one I have to share.
My paternal grandparents on their wedding day in 1923:

Isn't Grandma beautiful? She's 21 years old, and Grandpa is 25. I tend to forget about how short Grandpa was, but Grandma was under 5 feet tall on her best day. At the age of 7 I could fit perfectly into her shoes. But then I had big feet, because I was destined to reach 5'10"!
They were together for over 70 years, and Grandpa passed away just eight years ago, a few weeks after his 103rd birthday.
On a side note, this picture was taken just 2 years after the Jack/Daniel 1921 AU I'm still not writing.
ETA: 70th Anniversary photo

They learned how to smile. :-)

Date: May. 4th, 2010 09:24 pm (UTC)I love that they stayed together all those years. So cool to be able to celebrate your 70th! It can't have been plain sailing for them all that time (just think of what they lived through!) but they stuck with it and still kept smiling!
