Between mentally planning meals for the big weekend, thinking about the cleaning that's left to do before company arrives Friday afternoon, and plotting the final scene-to-be-written in my Jack!whumper, sleep is not an achievable goal.

So maybe I'll get the fic finished. That goal seems more achievable at the moment, which is a good thing since writing this has been extremely difficult for me. It would be a relief to hand it off to betas.

Yes, I'm looking at you,

And at anyone else who wants to volunteer.  Probably be about 5,000 words or so, NC-17, not at all cheery, with a healthy dollop of pr0n.

ETA: Done!  5,500 words.  Bed.  Now.

Something on tonight's season finale of Boston Legal happened to remind me of an incident from the remote past... about 1984, I think it was.  I was dating a guy who was convinced that the Soviets were going to attack the U.S. with nukes.  (Hey, I was right!  I knew that wasn't gonna happen.)

Anyway, his plan was to escape into the mountains, or some such survivalist nonsense, and take me with him.

And my sekrit reaction was: what would be the point of surviving the apocalypse?  Because, hey, there would be no baseball and no soap operas.

OK, my tastes have changed in the intervening decades.  What would I miss now?  Would the Internet survive?  Would there be shiny new slash to read?  What would I do without my cooking shows to point me at new ingredients and recipes?

Pushing Daisies, Chuck, 24 - I've been promised more of those!

OMG, there HAVE to be more SG-1 movies!!!

So what would you miss to the point that simply surviving would lose its luster?
