At work, I rake leaves and scoop leaves and dance on leaves to flatten them into the truck. In my spare time I pretend they're not happening *g*

I'm thinking I might want to invest in a leafblower for next year. I'm considering it. Seriously.

Aren't they fairly expensive? Or could you and your neighbours share on one?

My neighbor's daughter actually said that her grandfather was getting rid of his old one and getting a new one, so my neighbor is anticipating the old one falling into his hands.

Yes, I heard they were very noisy, too. I would definitely wear my earplugs!

Actually what I need to do is buy a tarp, which would be a lot cheaper and make transporting leaves to the curb a lot quicker. I was using a shower curtain! (Or maybe I could just cover the entire yard with tarps and not have to rake at all. ;-)

Hm. If tarps come cheap (which I do not know) then, why not have two or three in strategic places, and when the season arrives, roll the tarps up with the leaves inside, so that they can be transported easily.

I'm thinking I might want to invest in a leafblower for next year. I'm considering it. Seriously.

They're noisy (have to wear headphones, can't chatter to workmates or listen to mp3), smelly (exhaust fumes, petrol leakage), not the easiest thing to control, and unlike raking they don't keep a person warm. They also feel fairly heavy after a while, and the skewed stance isn't great for the back. But then I'm using them all day in autumn, which you may not need to, and they're certainly quicker in some situations *shrugs*

Unfortunately I can't think that would be very good for the grass. The lawn service guy told me that the leaves could create "dead spots". I'm thinking a big ol' tarp would be much worse!

The yards have been neglected for years, so I'm trying to work on getting them into shape. Mostly by paying other people to do the work! :-D

I think with better knowledge of what I'm doing next year, and something bigger than a shower curtain to cut down on the number of trips I have to make to the curb, I might just stick to the raking. It's not like I don't need the exercise!

I'm done! The city pickup ends tomorrow. That's why I had to break my back to get it all done quickly. (I had an unrelated sprained hand that kept me from raking for a week or so, and a blister from raking before that.)
