THEN the blizzard hits.

Another 15 to 21 inches expected into Wednesday evening.

Oh, look! The sun is going to shine on Thursday!

Friday, Saturday, Sunday... more snow.

I imagine the grocery stores will be packed with people, so I think I will just go to the corner bakery for bread and some tasty treats to take my mind off of winter. I've got plenty of batteries and warm clothing. No boots, sadly, but three pairs of shoes. Two shovels. Veggies in the freezer along with lots of meat. :-)

No change in the forecast this morning, but it is still a blizzard watch rather than a warning. Maybe it won't happen! *crosses fingers*

Nope! I moved on. I've just been watching the Special Features on the two Stargate movies that someone was kind enough to give me. :-)

*sobs pitifully* It's 60F/15C in the house, because the power was off from 1:30 to 8:30 this morning. I've managed to get the temp up 5 degrees in the last 2 1/2 hours. Actually it just slipped back a degree! :-( A neighbor just helped me dig a path from my front porch out to the sidewalk. I've never shoveled starting at waist height before. Another neighbor is out there with his snowblower right now tackling the sidewalk - at least I hope he'll get to mine without his snowblower conking out!

It doesn't actually matter, because I'm clearly not going anywhere for a while. My car is buried up to the headlights in front and on the sides. PLUS there's a three foot high snowbank left by the snowplow between the car and the plowed portion of the street. I don't think my car's moving until April.

Things are a bit better. The house is back to normal temperature and some neighbors helped dig my car out. Only half of my sidewalk got snowblown, though. Maybe my neighbor ran out of gas? But the mailman managed to get to me somehow today, so I think a path has been trodden down around the big drift. Legally I'm responsible for getting the sidewalk cleared, but I can't possibly do it myself, especially after it froze solid overnight.

I refuse to worry about it. The worst thing that can happen is that the city arranges to have it cleared and I have to pay for it. And the city has enough other problems that I don't think they'd get around to me for awhile!

I think, here in Kentucky, we might actually miss this one. They are forecasting a major ice/snow storm for this week but it looks like Chicago is ground zero. How many days 'til Spring????

Well, I went to the liquor store. *g* I went out to get a quickie oil change because my windshield wiper had broken into pieces (probably something I did to it while brushing off snow or attacking chunks of ice) and stopped off at the liquor store on the way home.

I'll grocery shop first thing in the morning. I figured everybody in town was out there shopping on a Sunday.

It is a pretty layout, isn't it? It's way too busy with the pretty RDA background, though. Decisions, decisions. *g*

LOL, I have food! I could survive without shopping. I have bananas and grapes and yogurt, I can make a pot roast with carrots, onion and taters, I can make lentil soup, pork chops and braised cabbage with yams, grilled chicken, pasta, assorted frozen veggies. I've got 3 kinds of fruit juice, and a full case of diet pop.

Hey, why am I shopping again? :-D Well, bread would be nice. Hmm. I can just go to the corner bakery! YEAH!

I'm not really sure when Spring arrives in these parts. Last year was sort of a blur. Like the next few days will be a blur of snow shoveling and brushing off the car and shoveling it out. And cursing the snow plows. Even if I don't want to go anywhere, I still need to move the car every day. Grr.

I might need an extra layer at night when I turn the thermostat down, but generally speaking the house stays very comfortable. I guess the high winds are going to find all the chinks in the armor, though!
