Say, could someone pop in to Area 52 and see if the upload I just did of And To My Listening Ears looks complete or not? Everything looked fine when I previewed it, but I'm only getting a partial story when I click on the link. I don't know if it's just me!

It looks fine til here - Daniel listened to the rain, to Jack's steady breathing, as the windshield and celluloid curtains steamed over, enclosing them in a private world. He wondered what time it was. He wondered if he was ever going to get back to sleep. He studied the outline of Jack's body, dimly visible. If Jack could sleep with one shoulder so,. Then the screen is all black, but the words are still there if I highlight them. So maybe a font or background formatting issue?

ETA: It seems to be working for me now. Could you try one more time? Maybe whatever the issue was has been fixed.

Still going black for me in roughly the same spot. I'm using Firefox if you think that makes a difference.

Ah, it's working for someone! Two nays and one aye. I wonder if it comes down to browser or o/s something. May I ask what you use?

Chrome, on a PC. Have you tried checking it logged out & after clearing your cache?

It's working for me now. It appears to be a common problem with lengthy fics on Area 52, so I'm content that I uploaded it correctly. That was my main concern!

I actually think they're just having a bit of trouble with their front end GUI. Try going in through author search tomorrow and see if it's fixed...

It looks fine for me, entirely. I've seen this be an issue with other long stories in the past with A52, where the light blue background just doesn't extend far enough down, so some latter portion of a story is in black text on a(n essentially) black background, needing highlighting. It's some combination of the site's style sheet and the memory available to the browser right then.

But yours is fine, it shows up just fine for me in Chrome and Firefox and IE.

I've just checked and it and, for me, it cuts off at the aforementioned point. I've had this problem many times with Area 52, so I half expected it. As you say, it's a known issue, I think. It's one of the reasons I've given up reading over there.

I'm a Firefox user, for reference.

Thankfully, the fic is in its glorious entirety for me at Ao3 and DW. Yay!!!!

I just had to make sure there was nothing I could do about it, like re-loading the story. Apparently not!

They're obviously having problems -- I couldn't get in last night, could this morning, can't now.

Hold 'ctrl' button and then hit A and it will highlight the story. It is some kind of formatting thing, I have to do it alot with longer stories. I'm sure someone more tech savvy can explain why.

It's actually working fine for me currently. Totally freaked me out, though, wondering what I might have done wrong! Hopefully anyone who clicks on it and runs into trouble will know the solution like you did.

Yeah, the text drops out of the light blue area and disappears into black-on-black.

You might add a note at the top, telling readers how to make it visible -- and, possibly, where else to find the story. Reading light text on dark is a real eyestrain for me, and I often bail on stories that are painful to read. I'd hate for you to lose any reader over a formatting issue!

I'm just going to leave it be. I guess regular Area 52 denizens will have run into this before. And right now I can't even connect to the website, so they may be having other issues!
