Just catching up

I just posted my contribution to the queue for the
sg1friendathon. \o/ The stories will be released one per day starting tomorrow, so who knows when mine will be revealed. The stories are all gen, but there are a handful of Jack and Daniel prompts that were ALL claimed, so you may want to follow the comm for those and whatever other goodies appear. My prompt was Cam and Daniel, on the firing range post-Prototype.
My next project is to dash off a SG-1 ficlet for
spook_me. I chose the monster prompt: Shapeshifter. I just need to come up with a groovy shapeshifter!myth for Daniel to spout off about and figure out some logistics. No minimum word count, so I can totally do this!
Also I'll be trying to get underway with my
jd_ficathon assignment! I have ideas...and where ideas fail, there's always sex. ;-)

On the personal front, one day I opened up the door of my tiny plastic shed in the back yard, and screeched and slammed it shut when something inside raised its head and looked back at me! Fortunately my brother was arriving in town a couple of hours later, so I let him investigate. It was an opossum, and it wasn't about to move until nightfall. I left the shed doors propped open for several days afterwards. Hopefully the damn thing has forgotten all about its ersthile hidey-hole by now. Hilariously, and I just now realized it, this happened on Friday the 13th!
To help ease the pain of all that hoohah, we spent that night and the next day drinking beer (Great Lakes Brew Fest) and getting a few things done around the house.
On Wed. the 18th a friend came over and we had wine and cheese on my front porch while a musical group she used to sing with performed across the street at Harvest Night. She enjoys mocking them now that she's escaped. *g*
The following Wed. I went to our brandshinynew Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant and played a TON of trivia. I lurve NTN trivia! I was 5th on the national network on one game, and decided to pack it in and go home, because I was never going to beat that! But just then a guy sat down a few stools away at the bar and started buying drinks for folks, so I had one for the road and played a couple more games with him assisting me. :-D
This Friday I stayed up until 3 a.m. watching the Australian Rules football Grand Final *winks at mags* slept all morning, and then dashed around to get ready in time for a Pampered Chef party at a friend's. I ordered exciting things, like oven mitts and a citrus juicer. Way overpriced of course, but things I've been wanting, and the quality should be very good.
Coming up, on Friday the 11th I'm having the basement stairs rebuilt. After a hundred years, I think it's time. And the Friday after that I'll be heading for my nephew's wedding in Springfield, IL.
And now we're caught up! :-)

Date: Oct. 1st, 2013 04:57 am (UTC)What is a Pampered Chef party?
Btw, I would have run from here to eternity if eye had looked at me from the dark...

Date: Oct. 1st, 2013 05:37 am (UTC)Pampered Chef is a line of kitchen products (baking, serving, preparing, etc.) that's sold during home parties. Someone decides to host a party, invites her friends, family and co-workers, a Pampered Chef salesperson is there and demonstrates some of the products while preparing a light meal for the guests. Then the guests go through the catalog and place their orders!
I was so totally not prepared to have a head raise and turn to me... EEEEEEE!

Date: Oct. 2nd, 2013 01:14 pm (UTC)I'm afraid the friendathon piece will clunk in a couple of spots, since I procrastinated so long that there was no time to get it beta'd. But overall I think it has merit. And judicious sprinklings of Jack! His ears are probably burning out there in Washington. *g*

Date: Oct. 3rd, 2013 02:29 am (UTC)I have an idea for my ficathon fic and a whole two paragraphs written.
I have bunny rabbits living under my porch, but no 'possums.
*waving hello*

Date: Oct. 3rd, 2013 03:07 pm (UTC)I'm pretty sure I had bunnies living in the shade of my car this spring and summer, because there were multiple times that I climbed in, closed the door, and looked out the windshield to see bunny tails racing away! Much better than possums. MUCH.

Date: Oct. 1st, 2013 01:09 am (UTC)I have a knife, and one of those sliding plastic measuring cups for measuring and easily dispensing stuff like mayo or peanut butter. I guess my kitchen shears are probably theirs, too. Oh, and a set of spatulas.

Date: Oct. 1st, 2013 01:36 am (UTC)I love Pampered Chef stuff! I even hosted a party once so I could score a bunch of loot.

Date: Oct. 1st, 2013 02:54 am (UTC)I hope it's the LAST live possum I see. *crosses appendages*
I just got an email from the Pampered Chef lady, showing me what my hostess got out of her party:
$90 FREE Products
2 Half-Priced items
25% discount off everything else
60% off this month’s choice of host special - a stone or piece of bakeware!
10% off all purchases for a year!
Yep, that's quite a haul of loot!

Date: Oct. 1st, 2013 12:17 pm (UTC)I got that giant frying pan with the lid in their cookware that goes for like $125 (plus the cost of the lid) for free and a bunch of other stuff. Their cookware is really amazing. I'd love to have all of it. If only I had the money. *sigh*
