Getting comfy

I haven't done much here yet. No curtains, nothing in the fridge. But my icons just imported! And I can waste some time uploading more, since I temporarily get 200. (I think?)
Thanks to everyone who "friended" sidlj.livejournal.com. I guess we can all kick her to the curb now? And can I admit that I laughed as so many people subscribed to her? You know, she couldn't actually post anything. :-P
I don't have any real plans for how to manage two journals. We'll see what happens. But I wanted to be sure to get in on the fun, and not to lose track of anyone.
I do believe this place is awesome, in concept and in execution, and I wish Dreamwidth all the best going forward. :-)

Date: Apr. 15th, 2009 09:23 pm (UTC)I'm not getting it. Why another journaling platform? What's with this Dreamwidth thingy anyway? Inquiring minds and all that.

Date: Apr. 15th, 2009 11:42 pm (UTC)This place will be enormously fandom friendly (and therefore porn friendly), which sounds very good considering how bad things happen from time to time on LJ. It's a good place for writers because posts can be much, much longer, so that a fic that took 3 entries on LJ can fit into one on DW. Comment size is larger, too, so comment!ficcing can be meatier and folks in general can get into longer discussions in comments to posts.
I don't have any linky links at hand but I can dig up some that will spell things out a whole lot better for you if you'd like!

Date: Apr. 17th, 2009 02:39 am (UTC)While I'm asking impertinent questions -- why kick sidlj to the curb, and why couldn't she post? I feel as if I missed the punch line . . . or maybe the lead-up.

Date: Apr. 17th, 2009 03:27 am (UTC)Now that I have a real account, sidlj serves no purpose here, so I deleted her (after subscribing to the folks and comms she had subscribed to in her two days here).
Come April 30th, I can either fork over some money or let sid lapse down to a free account, which is less limited than an OpenID account but not by much (once you've been spoiled. *g*)
I'll round up some links for ya.

And in the course of looking around, I learned that with your OpenID account, assuming you validated your email address, you WILL RECEIVE an invite code on or before April 30th. A few will be going out randomly; everyone gets one April 30th. :-)
