So much better than ending with this last season's finale and at least the writers know to wrap it up. I'm going to get a little radical here and say I think it may be a good idea to wind the show up -- the premise only has so much potential without going through real changes that serial TV tends to treat as anathema. I'll be sorry to see Neal et al go, but I hope the show writers take the opportunity to go out with real Caffrey flair.
But you're right, of course. They already spent most of last season teasing big changes and then backing away from them, keeping Peter in the field with every excuse they could come up with, etc. Fortunately I do not require logic in a show this pretty. I only require lots of Peter and Neal. Bring on the Caffrey flair!
Over here, they have completely lost the plot with showing White Collar and I have no idea where we're up to or what's happening. So I don't know whether a six-ep wrap-up is a good thing or not.
But ... bring on moar pretty, I say. And I'll probably have to ask you how it all ended up. *sigh*
Well, the last season ended on a shocking cliffhanger...oh, wait, they probably all did. LOL. Anyway, it would have been devastating a real missed opportunity if the show had been cancelled outright without a chance to explore 'OMG, What The Hell Is Going On???'
I'm sure it can be done. Generally they would have a "Case of the Week" and move the season's arc along incrementally. They probably need to drop that pattern and just concentrate on the meaning behind the cliffhanger and what follows from that. I just wonder what they already had written, and how much time they have to make changes before they need to start shooting.
