And my mother was from near Buffalo, New York, so that had an influence on my speech, too. Heh, I do call it "pop" but write it on my grocery lists as "soda".

Try a Myers's rum with (diet) tonic, some people add a wedge of lime. Bartenders will sometimes question you, and I have friends that rue the day I introduced them to it. They didn't believe it either. Tastes like pop, only better!

I can see the vanilla flavor/coke, but brandy?

I don't like whiskey. I tried, so very hard, to like Jack Daniels!

I can't stand tonic on its own, or any pop. It doesn't work with any other mixer or rum, either.
