RULES: Each player of this game starts off with 10 weird things/habits about yourself. People who get tagged need to write a blog of their own 10 weird habits/things as well as state this rule clearly. At the end you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names.

BTW, this is all [livejournal.com profile] riverfox's fault.

1. I have distal hyperextensibility of the thumbs. (aka hitchhiker's thumb) This came in remarkably handy when I played the bassoon.

2. I count stairs when I'm climbing them. I've gotten some strange looks when I say things like "I have fifteen stairs at home."

3. When I eat, I have to blow my nose. I inherited this disorder from my mother. Eating makes my nose run!

4. My head is crooked. Now, let me finish! *g* My HS homeroom teacher inspected us all as we waited to proceed into the auditorium for graduation ceremonies. He reached up and straightened my cap. With the point facing properly forward, the cap was no longer sitting snugly on my head, and I spent the rest of the afternoon reaching up to rescue it when it threatened to slide off.

5. I was apparently born left-handed. In JH gym class we were told to line up, right-handers here, left-handers here. I got in the right-handed line, ran forward to scissor-kick over the bar, and found the wrong leg going up into the air. I aborted and moved to the back of the left-handers line. When I told my mother what had happened, she got the strangest look on her face. When I was laying in my crib, I always reached for the dangling toys on the left, so Mom tied those up out of the way, because she didn't want me to be left-handed, and I started using my right hand to reach for the remaining toys. But I'm still left-footed, and do a few things left-handed, like pouring into a measuring cup, opening jar lids, unlocking doors.

6. I tend to do things in fours. Four cookies on the plate, four beats when I tap my fingers. It just seems to be the most natural number to me. If anyone asks what my lucky number is, I'll say four, even though I don't believe in lucky numbers.

7. I used to shoplift when I was a kid. Actually, it was more like a "Buy one, get one free" system. One candybar went into my coat pocket and one went on the counter to be purchased. I have no idea when I stopped, or why. I guess I just outgrew it.

8. My brunette hair starting turning white when I was about 12 or 13 years old, just a few strands at a time. By the time I graduated from HS, I had white streaks in the front that reached almost to my waist. These days I'm a blonde. *g*

9. I have psychic abilities. *cue scary music* Not that they do me any good, but I have had dreams that came true (in slightly altered ways), and sometimes I get strong feelings that turn out to be accurate. On Thanksgiving, during a game of Monopoly, I had rolled doubles twice in a row. Three times and you go to jail. I picked up the dice, turned to my nephew, said "I'm going to jail", and rolled a pair of fives. I just knew.

10. I hate the texture of velvet. Imagine what it would be like to lick the stuff, and that's kind of what I feel when I touch it. I get a hot, prickly sensation on my tongue, and from my fingertips up the inside of my arm to above the wrist. Really unpleasant. I've never heard anything similar from anyone else. It did actually give me an idea for a scifi story, with aliens, and, er, me. I'll just leave it at that.

I won't tag anyone, but do it if you want to!

I'm envious of your white streaks. My hair's graying in a rather boring all over manner. There's a woman on campus with the most striking white streak in her hair.

My ex also has the nose running thing from eating. My mother will often sneeze when she eats, for no reason we've ever been able to figure out.

Being right handed and left footed isn't all that uncommon. Odds are, if you really were born left-handed, it would have taken much more to make you switch. More likely you just swing both ways, as it were. ;-) I do some things left-handed because my mother is and that's how she taught me to do them. I've been told I tie my shoes left-handed but I can't really tell. :-) These days it all depends on which hand hurts the least as to which is dominant...except for writing. :-) When it comes to writing my left-hand is mostly useless except for helping to keep the paper on the table. My daughter is right-footed, handed and eyed. I'm right-eyed, handed and left-footed. It's likely the primary reason I tend to trip over my own feet.

My right thumb winds up on top and I'm right-handed. That's the way it feels when I do it the other way. :-)

Ummm.. back home we have a saying that if you lace your finger and your left thumb on the top, you're more emotional in your thinking/approach, if it's your right thumb, you're more logical... *insert rolling eyes smiley here*

But I did ask my friends to lace their hands.. and mostly it's true to their nature :P (btw, I'm right thump-top)

Oh.. are you one of those who can press their thumb (with the other hand) to touch the same wrist ??

*sniffs* Yeah, well...

:-p~~~

3. When I eat, I have to blow my nose. I inherited this disorder from my mother. Eating makes my nose run!

Me too! It's a symptom, in my case, of allergic rhinitis. Or deviated nasal septum. I can't remember. *gg*

I hate stroking velvet against the grain. Drives me nuts. Don't know why.

And I'm a leftie, too. :) My psychic sense I tend to judge as uber-instinctual. Even though I'm a Wiccan. ;)

Let's see, would a deviated septum make it sound like a flock of geese were flying past when I blow my nose? :-D

Pretty much. ;) In my case, a fog horn. :-p

I remember those cards with that weird texture on them. I'd rub the damn thing till the "fur" came off. :-p Someone once gave me a card with lace and silk on it. I left that one alone. *g*

Huh, my sister was left handed too, but my mother made sure to teach her to do everything right handed. Also, my mom is psychic too. Every once in awhile she'll have a dream that comes true or be able to predict something that's going to happen.
