A set of nine unconnected drabbles with a common theme.

SAFE LANDING
Jack can count on the fingers of one hand the times he’s crashed on Daniel’s sofa. And still have two or three fingers left over. It makes much more sense for Daniel to be over at Jack’s, where there are way more sports channels available, for starters. And a guest room. Because, hey, sometimes it gets late, or the beers go down a little too easy.

It makes much more sense for Daniel to be over at Jack’s, where there are way more sports channels available, for starters. And a guest room. Because, hey, sometimes it gets late, or the beers go down a little too easy.
But here he is, waking up, groggy, and everything hurts a little. Knees, back, arm. Ow, neck. Is that an elbow in his kidney? Ow, ass.
Oh. Right.
Jack smiles into the sofa cushion.
PUZZLE PIECES
His fingers digging into Jack’s shoulders, Daniel said, “You’re big.”
Jack lowered his head to nuzzle Daniel’s neck; or possibly to hide the smile that Daniel could hear in his voice as he said, “Thank you.”
Daniel moved cautiously, uneasily. “This isn’t going to work.”
There was a brief silence. Jack was frowning as he began to pull out. “Okay.”
Daniel rolled away, scrabbling at the pillow, pushing it aside until it dangled half on, half off the bed. Prone, he let his legs spread and relax. “This will work.” He waited impatiently to welcome Jack back into his body.
BLUR
Jack wasn’t sure why he was holding Daniel’s glasses. Yeah, Daniel had handed them to him, which had seemed a tad strange. But why he was still hanging onto them escaped him.
He could be doing something else with that hand. It could join its counterpart, stroke through soft hair. Or lay warm against a muscular shoulder or cup the nape of a strong neck.
“You sure you’ve never done this before?” he asked, listening to his voice rise in pitch, and crack.
But Daniel wasn’t answering, and Jack cradled the glasses in a hand that fought not to clench.
SHEER LUNACY
They’d sworn that they would never do this. It was wrong; it disregarded every regulation, every rule, every safeguard.
They were acting foolishly, and they knew it. Where was their self-control? What were they using for brains?
Okay, the answer to that was obvious, because Jack was holding Daniel’s brain-substitute in his hand, and vice versa, and they were watching each other avidly, and their breathing was loud, too loud, and it was wonderful and unbearable and very, very wrong.
The rising moon bathed them with its light as they climaxed, and the two setting moons just glimpsed their kiss.
UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP
Daniel crouched above Jack, his hand pumping. Face nearly unrecognizable, eyes glittering slits, breathing harsh.
Jack shivered as he watched. This wasn’t a glimpse into Daniel as he was in his most privately intimate moments. Daniel wouldn’t ever be like this when he was alone. Powerful, possessive.
Daniel was staking a claim on his lover’s body and Jack had never known such a thrill.
He shivered again as the first warm drops of fluid hit just below his nipple. He watched Daniel’s face, his closed eyes, his parted lips, as Daniel bound Jack to him forever with ribbons of white.
HUNGER NO MORE
Jack’s hands on his thighs were probably going to leave bruises, but Daniel wasn’t in a complaining mood. And then Jack was orgasming, and everything was warm and fuzzy. When Jack pulled out, releasing his legs, Daniel laid there in a boneless, smiling heap.
Then he pulled himself up and scooted forward. As he stood, he grimaced and looked down at the smear of mingled semen and lube he’d left behind.
“I’ve just lost all appetite for ever eating another meal off this table.”
Jack produced a canister of Lysol Sanitizing Wipes.
“Good,” Daniel nodded. “I’ll be in the shower.”
THE BELTWAY
Jack turned off the light in the hotel bathroom and padded back towards the bed. He picked up the remote and flicked through the available TV channels half-heartedly. With a sigh, he clicked off the set. Exchanging the remote for his cell phone, he speed dialed #1.
“Hello.”
“Hey.”
“Hey! You all through wining and dining?”
“Yep. I’m in for the night.”
“You sound bored.”
“Washington is full of boring people, Daniel.”
“Miss you, too.”
“Daniel?”
“Hm?”
Jack lowered his voice. “What are you wearing?”
He waited.
“Ooh!” Daniel said.
Jack smiled and reached for the belt of his robe.
DIBS
Oh, it’s a ritual, they say. Getting naked with Daniel is a ritual. Hey, no problem!
Getting naked with Daniel, getting on top of Daniel, getting inside…
No, not that. Might not be able to hide how I feel, doing something that I’ve been dying to do. I don’t want him to know; I don’t want to scare him. Not that he isn’t scared already if the color of his face is anything to go by. I’m fine other way around.
“I’ll take the bottom.”
Huh. We’ve really got to stop speaking in unison, or people will start to wonder.
SHOOP SHOOP
They’ve been dancing around this moment for months. It just seems so major, and Daniel doesn’t like upheaval in his life, which is tricky enough the way it is. So they’ve feinted, or actually feigned feinting, and retreated to their respective corners.
But every quirk of Jack’s thin lips is having an effect on Daniel these days. And he’s seen Jack’s eyes watching him, making him realize each time he unconsciously licked his lips. And it really was unconscious, because he wouldn’t try to push Jack into something he wasn’t ready for.
Sex is one thing. This, kissing, means love.

Date: Jan. 31st, 2007 12:31 am (UTC)At any rate, there have been quite a few things I've read here that I've liked, so now that I'm getting over my LJ-shyness I'll hopefully go back and find them again. But consider this an all encompassing 'Yay!'
