(I'm sure to screw this up....)

Step 1: Put your MP3 player or whatever on random.
Step 2: Post the first line from the first 20 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song.
Step 3: Post and let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from.
Step 4: Strike out the songs when someone guesses correctly (No lyric hunting! That is cheating!)

I've added more lyrics for the songs not guessed yet - hard to pinpoint what constitutes "the first line" anyway

1. Just yesterday morning, they let me know you were gone
2. I read the news today, oh boy
3. Well, I lay my head on the railroad tracks, waiting on the Double E
4. We skipped the light fandango
5. You ain't got no kind of feeling inside, I got something that sho nuf set your stuff on fire
6. Out on the road for forty days, last night in Little Rock put me in a haze
7. Turn off your mind, relax, and float downstream, it is not dying, it is not dying still need song title, artist is The Beatles
8. First I was afraid, I was petrified
9. You know the day destroys the night, night divides the day
10.They paved paradise, put up a parking lot
11.'Taint no big thing, to wait for the bell to ring, 'taint no big thing, the toll of the bell
12.Is there lovin' in your eyes, all the way, if I listen to your lies, would you say
13.Got a wife and kids in Baltimore, Jack, I went out for a ride and I never went back
14.You, who are on the road
15.There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold
16.Good sense, innocence, cripplin' mankind; dead kings, many things I can't define
17.The rooms were so much colder then, my father was a soldier then
18.Last night your shadow fell upon my lonely room, I touched your golden hair and tasted your perfume still need artist for "I Had Too Much To Dream Last Night"
19.I know a place, ain't nobody cryin', Ain't nobody worried
20.Hey, where did we go, days when the rains came

You got the two I already knew! :-P

I must admit, I have never actually heard Stairway to Heaven before. *waits for collective 'what?!'*

Sid...strikethroughs are <*s> and <*/s>, without the stars, obviously.

If somebody doesn't get a song, are we gonna post the answer later? Anybody?

Awww...{{{hugs back}}}

Maybe if the song hasn't been guessed within 24, post another with the answers to the mystery songs, but keep them under a cut in case someone still wants to try to guess? *ponders*

Wait...I know this. Is it the orginal (I don't know who did that) or Counting Crow's "Big Yellow Taxi"?

I'd have mentioned Joni Mitchell for Big Yellow Taxi if I'd known you wanted her name too. I think 13 is Springsteen...Hungry Heart? (That's in the refrain so I think that's the name.) 16 I think is Incense, Peppermints by the Strawberry Alarm Clock. And damn I think 7 is Beatles too. Have to think on that one.

#9 is "Break on Through" by the Doors.... or is called "The Other Side".... carp. I hate when I mix up song titles. But I do know it's the Doors.
