Lie or Lay? I need a one sentence beta!!

Actually, I know it's "lie", I'm just not positive which form of the word to use.  Which means it could wind up being "lay"!  Help me please?

Skool was a mighty long time ago. Pluperfect means squat to me. I imagine I must have learned it at some point - or was it invented recently? *g*

In this instance I knew which word was correct, and I happened to write it correctly the first time! Woohoo!
