Freaky Coincidence of the Stargate variety!

I just turned on the TV downstairs and scanned through a few channels before starting to watch my DVR from last night.  Sex, lies and videotape is on, so I watched a few minutes of pretty James Spader and then started to playback last night's episode of Lost in Space only to discover that the guest star happens to be young Kurt Russell!

Every time I see The Movie, I want to immediately put Big Trouble in Little China on *right* afterwards.

It's *HILARIOUS*!!!!! Seriously OTT and funny as all hell. Ancient Chinese Sorcerers! Back Alley Tong Wars! Bad Guys in Bad Hats! And it's not that it's so bad it's funny, it's actually intentional and it hits the mark. There's even a nod to KR's Disney years in one scene. :-)

It was, IIRC, the first 'grown up' Kurt Russell movie I saw. At least I *think* it came out before The Thing. Seriously, see it. It's a riot.

LOL!!! I'd forgotten *that* part. :-) Man, it's been far too many years since I watched Lost in Space. Every Wednesday night, though, there we were, faces glued to the tv. :-)

Well, now it's on Thursday nights *g* if you get American Life cable network. Followed by The Time Tunnel and (my childhood favorite) Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.

I will never forget the Pearl Harbor ep. :-) OHNOES! Poor Tony! I think of that one every time I see The Gamekeeper. ;-)

I just watched that ep a couple of months ago. *nods*

Frankly, the show is not nearly as spellbinding as it once was. I fast forward a LOT. And every time the General says, "Call the Japanese/Mexican/German embassy; we need someone who can help us identify landmarks," I wonder how it is that they have not yet learned their lesson. That never works out well, General. *shakes head* :-D

It just hit me that my kid's going to be looking back going:

"Oh, man, I remember seeing Michael Shanks in Stargate when I was a kid! He was so YOUNG!"

OMG! I remember when KR guest starred on LiS! But then, I also remember going to the theatre to see him in The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes. He was my first crush. ♥

(Why don't I have any KR icons??!! I must remedy that later on.)

KR was the guest star on the first episode of The Man from U.N.C.L.E. that I ever saw, and that was the first "grown-up" prime time TV I had ever seen.

I was hooked from then on.

He guest starred on a lot of TV shows when he was young, especially westerns. I made a point of watching as many as I could talk Mum into letting me see. *nods*

I probably saw The Man from Uncle episode too, (cuz I also had a crush on Ilya *g*) but I don't recollect it ATM.

It was one of the early b&w episodes. KR thinks Napoleon would make the perfect husband for his widowed mother, so he latches onto him at the airport. They wind up somewhere in Scandanavia, I think, by a statue of a maiden. Oslo? Copenhagen? Kurt climbs up on the statue and Napoleon spots a homing device attached to the back of his trousers. Gosh, that moment just stuck with me for years!
