It's too quiet!  Nobody on my flist has posted in HOURS!  (or LJ is hiding things from me, which isn't out of the question, I suppose.)

So, I'll talk about food.  :-)

Last night we had our (now traditional) Rosemary, Lemon Zest and Parmesan popcorn while we watched the season finale of Atlantis.  It's so good that we try to restrain ourselves by only having it on special occasions, like a season finale or premiere, or when we have a movie to watch (which is something rare for us.)

And, because every so often we actually PLAN our meals, tonight we used up the rest of the rosemary and the juice of the two naked lemons.  We had roasted, quartered potatoes with rosemary, garlic, sea salt and fresh ground black pepper.  And I made bone-in chicken thighs with a glaze of honey, lemon juice and rosemary, with a tiny bit of cayenne pepper (about half what the recipe called for, because I am a wuss.)

Both nights we killed a bottle of Sutter Home Chenin Blanc, and it was especially good with tonight's chicken.  This has become our house white, because it's cheap and food friendly.  Only about $3.69 a bottle!  A bit sweeter than, say, a Chardonnay.  The last sips, after the wine has warmed a bit, are full of pear-like flavors.  Eminently quaffable.  :-)

I bought two huge bags of them the other day. Oh, and some of the Hot Pockets calzone. I like to keep them on hand for when there's no time or energy to do anything else. :-)

Skip the rice and cook pasta. Add some garlic, a chopped tomato and some bell pepper to the rest and make a one dish meal. Oh, if you've got some mozzerella or something in that line, you could toss the whole thing into a baking dish, cover it with the cheese and bake it for about a half hour. Maybe even splash a bit of the house wine in there, too. :-)

OH! Got any bacon or sausage? Toss a bit of that in there. It would offer a nice counterpoint to the honey glaze.

I bet it would.

Depends on how adventurous you feel. ;-)

As for the bell pepper, infidel, toss any veggie you like in there. :-) I've got some frozen sugar snap peas I've used in similar dishes.

My daughter loves 'em. I often toss them in with a diced grilled chicken breast and some shredded carrots when I make Fetticini Alfredo.

LOL!!!! Yep!

I only make about once a month, if that often. On the other hand, since I started adding the veggies and the chicken, I'm making less actual sauce for it, so it does work out better.

But, much as *SHE'D* eat it five nights a week... I think not. :-)

Weird can sometimes work. Sometimes it doesn't. What I love is when it leads to something really good.

LOL!!! Goof! If you get the outlines right, a lot of the time you can juggle the specific ingredients. But then, creative cooking is almost a hobby for me. :-)

Methinks it's time to restock.

Or order pizza. :-)

Oh, burn! :-)

Hubby's a meanie! Makin' you wait like that!

But the split pea soup sounds good. I have no idea what we're having. Maybe macaroni & cheese and Ranch Style beans.
