Getting a sidearm was easy. He accepted the holster because he didn’t want questions. Jack dropped his spoon and put his head in his hands. Behind his eyelids, red and white and mustard yellow laughed at him. “Wacko,” he sobbed.

Jack didn’t want anything, anymore.
He closed his office door, dropped to his knees, swayed, put the weapon in his mouth. Pulled the trigger.
Blackness.
Soon color and sound swirled around him, but Jack was untouchable.
He didn’t see the bright light.
“Anyway, I’m sorry, but that just happens to be how I feel about it. What do you think?”

But I don't think our Jack looped long enough to reach the end of his rope in quite this way.

This glimpse is great, beautifully done, but I think that's all I can handle. Or maybe I'm just a wimp.
