[personal profile] jdjunkie wrote a warm and schmoopy Jack/Daniel Christmas ficlet. I recommend that everyone take a breather from holiday prep or holiday avoidance prep and wallow happily.

[personal profile] jdjunkie is hosting a Jack/Daniel Hug-a-thon. There are several new ficlets in the comments, plus excerpts from and links to classic hug moments, and yummy pics and vid links.

Hey, while you're waiting for the J/D ficathon stories to unveil tomorrow, you could spend some time working your way through the alphabet. Alphabet Soup, that is. 26 Gen Stargate stories, ranging from 300 to 7000 words, and dealing with some of the minor characters who work for the SGC, or giving OC POV on the workings of the program. There are some real stand-outs among the ones I've read so far!

Writing

Wow. I have four five things due in a twelve nineteen day span starting Oct. 22nd 15th. (Edited because I completely forgot about the SGC Alphabet Soup entry that's due on the 15th. Fortunately it's already written. *g*)

1. J/D Ficathon is due first. I have my idea and I've done some research. I'm ready to rock. ETA: 2373 words as of 9-23

2. Spook Me is second, on 10-26. Received my two secret image prompts around 2 am, and I just finished writing it! Those were damn good prompts. :-)

3. Kink Bingo ends 10-31. I just have one half-completed (three years ago!) story to finish up to complete my bingo.

4. Journey Story Big Bang rough draft is due Nov. 2nd. So I need to be about 70% done, with a summary attached of the missing bits. Then hopefully I'll get picked up by an artist! I have 4k out of a minimum 10k done, so I need to get working on this.

Plus I have the plans in place for finishing up the sequel that I Wordled a couple days ago, and I certainly want to get that one done, too. ETA: 2100 words added = DONE! So it's a very good thing that [livejournal.com profile] fic_rush is coming up this weekend! If you have some writing you need to get done, don't mind hanging out on LJ, and could use some fun, friendly encouragement (and company in your misery/joy/procrastination), feel free to drop in at [livejournal.com profile] fic_rush_48's hourly posts throughout the weekend to join in! Things start Friday evening here in the U.S., and the whole thing runs from 0000 GMT Saturday through 0000 GMT Monday.

It's time to do my annual plug for [personal profile] spook_me/[livejournal.com profile] spook_me's annual multi-fandom Halloween Ficathon!

You'll never come across a more low pressure ficathon. It's not an exchange, there is no minimum word count, and if you're not having fun with your writing all you have to do is stop.

You tell them what fandom you're most likely going to write in, but you can change your mind at any time without having to notify them. You pick a monster from their long list, or have them surprise you with a monster prompt of their choice, which they'll send along with your two secret prompts (based this year on artwork from classic children's books, fairy tales and fables.) All you have to do is write something based on one of those three prompts. It can be spooky, sexy, gory, funny, any rating, any genre.

Sign ups through Sept. 15th, stories due Oct. 26th. Sign up on LJ/Sign up on DW
sid: (J/D tabloid)
If anyone out there has been thinking about signing up for this year's J/D ficathon, August 27th is your last chance. You are signing up to write at least 1000 words, due October 15th, and you receive a fic in exchange. Come on and join in!

A prompt of mine was used for the current Set 152 at [livejournal.com profile] sg1_five_things: Five emails Paul Davis never sent.

There is a response. Go. Read. Splorfle.
sid: (J/D always)
So head on over to [personal profile] jdjunkie's DW salon and join in on the festivities!

"Screw the Real World and its problems for 24 hours. For one day at least, this is our unadulterated Happy Place.

Please drop by, even if you only say hello. The more the merrier!"
sid: (Daniel feast on me)
Beth, a SG-1 fan and writer by way of her love of RDA and MacGyver, needs our help! She's writing a gen late season two fic which will contain heaping helpings of Daniel, and she wants to make sure she does the character full justice. So take the time, if you will, to head over to [livejournal.com profile] bethinexile and gush answer her questions about what you like about Daniel, what you like to see/hate with a passion regarding Daniel in fic, what Daniel-moments made you squee on the show and so on.

(She's completely J/D compliant, it just isn't applicable to the story she's working on. *g*)

It's Set 150 at [livejournal.com profile] sg1_five_things! So we're getting all retrospective and inviting everyone to revisit prompts of yore. We've picked 15 hitherto unanswered prompts to get things rolling, but any past prompt (as per usual) is fair game. If you answer any prompts other than those 15, do be sure to leave us a link to your response at the above entry so we can add it to the master round-up. Also, if you want to pimp us out, that would be greatly appreciated! Feel free to use the code provided at the above entry. :-)

I wrote a Five Things: Five things Daniel did while separated from his teammates in Continuum.

Over at [community profile] arboreal_gate the NC-17 Jack/Daniel cliffhanger fic starter I posted has sparked ideas, OMGYAY! [personal profile] princessofgeeks has taken the ball and run with it, with able assists from sid_fan and [personal profile] elaiel. The link should take you to a Top Level Comments only view so you can read what's been written without interruptions for feedback and chitchat. But you will need to scroll up to read the initial post first. And when you get to the bottom of the page, if you want to go back and view the chitchat or leave fb, just click on 'Threaded'.

There's also some additional Fluffy Branch #2 goodies contributed by [personal profile] elaiel and [personal profile] paian. :-D

Over 200 comments so far! New fic, old fic, some dandy pics. Jack and Daniel are saying, "I love you" all over the place, and in every way you can imagine.

I've decided to keep the 'thon running through the end of Tuesday because I have gone mad with power, so be sure to stop in to share some squee!

This would be the place
sid: (Daniel 3 little words)
[personal profile] jdjunkie and I are throwing a Jack/Daniel 'thon! I'll be hosting it in my Dreamwidth salon from Friday, March 2nd through Monday, March 5th, which will hopefully give everyone in the WORLD a chance to participate!

Inspired by this drabble, the theme of the 'thon is those three little words, eight little letters that men sometimes have such a hard time saying: "I love you." Who has the harder time, Jack or Daniel? That probably depends on whereabouts in the canon a fic is placed. But, hey, if the words come easily to them, that's great, too!

Is one of our boys having a tough time saying those words? Do they never say them, but the meaning is clear just the same? Is it as much a thrill for one to hear the other say 'I love you' for the thirty-second time as it was the first?

We invite you to participate by posting commentfic, links to new works posted elsewhere, quotes from fics (with links, too, please!) where Jack and/or Daniel say, "I love you." Or how about pictures where, slash goggles firmly in place, we can see the truth of those unspoken words so clearly. Vids, too!

Or just stop by to squee, and bring your friends. :-)

The fun officially starts on Friday, but I'll try to put the relevant post up while it's still Thursday in my time zone, since Friday starts a lot sooner for many of you.

(The last time I hosted one of these was the epic Baby-a-thon of 2009. 792 comments! If you want to look, be aware it might be very slow to load for you. Very.)
sid: (Candy canes)
[personal profile] littlebutfierce is hosting a love meme! You can nominate other people, anonymously or not, or nominate yourself (be sure to post the link on your journal if you do.) You can comment on nominations anonymously or not (I found myself doing a half-and-half.) All comments are screened until [personal profile] littlebutfierce can get to them.

[personal profile] jjhunter is keeping an index. Go see who you know and spread some love!

You probably know this person. :-)
