THE EFFECTS OF POLLEN ON SG-1

They stepped through the gate into a field of wildflowers. Sam looked around with delight, half-smiling, anticipating the first sneeze. But, of course, it didn’t come, and her face fell.

Teal’c, seeing this, knew just what had happened. His eyes were soft and wistful as they scanned the riot of color that stretched to the horizon.

O’Neill glanced at the man to his left, then kicked sullenly at a blossom of brilliant violet hue, sending its petals scattering into the breeze. “Carter, take Teal’c and check out that ridge. We‘ll meet up on the other side.”

“Quinn, you’re with me.”

Know how this started? I don't spend a lot of time describing surroundings, and I think I should work on that. So, I imagined something beautiful, and then realized it would make Daniel sneeze.

Flowers are dangerous. Really.

If Daniel didn't get better, this would be too painful to read. As it is, it's a lovely bit of bittersweet.

It's very odd how Jonas didn't work. Because some of the S6 scripts were very nice. But as I watched, I kept thinking how much better they would have been if there'd been real team chemistry there. And there just wasn't.

Yeah, Daniel is all about the allergic to flowers: remember the opening scenes of THE GAMEKEEPER? "Too many flowers."

I love fics that remember Daniel's phobias (heights, airplanes) and allergies (flowers specifically, and I'm sure there are others, though we can be pretty sure cats aren't among them, as Sam had Schrodinger until she gave him to Narim and cat hair follows you everywhere, including to work, so Daniel would be dead by now if he were allergic to cats. And in ONE FALSE STEP he mentions the 'substantive' conversations he's had with dogs, so he's probably not allergic to dogs, either).

Or pet fish, obviously.

Or Air Force colonels.

Snakes, though....

Oh, now you've got me thinking of Indiana Jones. *g* "Snakes. Why does it have to be snakes?"

Yeah, I can see Daniel having a snake-allergy. Though Jack might say it was a snake-tropism, all things considered...

As for the AF Colonels...

"I had a pet monkey once," Daniel said, looking at Jack.

Yeah, uh huh. I am leaving that line right there. I have other things to do.
