Jack and Daniel, sitting in a tree...
ARBOREAL OSCULATION
"This is boring," Jack grumbled.
"Um, imminent death below," Daniel pointed out.
The two men peered down cautiously at the at-least-it-can't-climb beast that was circling the base of their tree. Baleful green eyes watched them hungrily as the thing snarled and spat at them. It rose up onto its hind legs and swiped at them with something that wasn't quite a paw. They drew back, grimacing.
"Carter and Teal'c won't be here for at least another hour. We can't just sit here, I'll go nuts!"
"Well, what can we do?" Daniel asked. "Let's see. You and me, sitting in a tree." He looked at Jack expectantly, but got only a patented O'Neill pout in return. "K-I-"
"No!"
"S-S-"
"Off-world, on duty, imminent danger...what are you doing?"
"I'm frightened, Jack. Comfort me?"
"Goofball," Jack said with fond exasperation.
Things got pretty quiet after that. The beast eventually stopped snarling, and laid down, head on almost-paws, eyes blinking upwards. An inquisitive bird hopped from branch to branch, beady eyes peering through the canopy of green.
At some point the ravenous beast gave up and slunk away to search out more cooperative prey.
It might have been the breeze that occasionally murmured.
I-N-G.
THE END
