Fuck this winter, srsly
Jan. 3rd, 2014 11:15 amWe've had about ten inches of snow starting New Year's Eve, on top of what was already on the ground. Now this from the National Weather Service:
DANGEROUSLY COLD AIR WILL MOVE INTO THE REGION LATE SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY... BECOMING LIFE-THREATENING SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING. WIND CHILLS WILL DROP TO 20 TO 25 BELOW ZERO LATE SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY... THEN PLUMMET TO 40 TO 50 BELOW BY MONDAY MORNING AND AGAIN TUESDAY MORNING. ONLY SLIGHT IMPROVEMENT IS EXPECTED DURING THE DAY MONDAY AND TUESDAY. THIS WILL BE THE COLDEST AIR WE HAVE EXPERIENCED SINCE THE ARCTIC BLAST IN FEBRUARY OF 1996... ABOUT 18 YEARS AGO.
ETA: It's now forecast to be 40 to 55 below zero wind chills. Schools are closed, thank goodness.

Date: Jan. 5th, 2014 04:23 pm (UTC)I have an extra blanket on the bed, and two comforters that I can add or use when I'm downstairs. Put on two pair of socks this morning, just to be ready. The nasty stuff is still hours away.
In really important news, I have a little clip-on light for reading, and new Hornblower and Temeraire books that I bought with a Christmas Barnes & Noble gift card. :-)

I'm a worrier by nature, but I don't think there's any doubt that it's going to be just as bad as they say. But over soon! That's the bright spot. :-)
