Jack/Sam that works for me

It was 3 am, I couldn't sleep, I popped in a DVD, and I was swept up in the Jack/Sam goodness.

What difference does it really make that they're both in the military? They risk their lives every day and they deserve to snatch what happiness they can.

So doin' it.

Of course, Sam might be doin' it with just about anybody. For instance, the cute blond kid in the glasses who's such a terrible flirt. OK, he might be doin' it with just about anybody, too.

And then there's their favorite enemy, who Sam just keeps releasing even though they capture him practically every other week. He and Sam are always making eyes at each other - could be something there.

*sigh* I love The Rat Patrol.

Accent whore! *g* I started watching "The Young and the Restless" thanks to him.

I adored that show. I would go to the store on the day that the new TV Guide came out and look to see the synopsis for the upcoming show. Funny how often the story I made up in my head turned out to be better than the one I saw on the screen. (/foreshadowing)

I never read any Rat Patrol books, but I did read a Combat or three. Ah, those were the days.

And yes, the stories I made up in my head were often far superior to what I saw on the screen.

When I was in jr high, my teacher (A very cute, Mr. Anderson!) handed everyone a full page, extremely detailed, small-print list of instructions – and 20 minutes to complete it. One of the items, maybe 10 out of 40, was to write your name on the board. When the time was up, I was one of the few people who hadn’t done anything. Most people happily had their name on the board.

Prior to getting the assignment, our teacher had lectured us on how important it was to read through instructions before doing anything. The last item on the list said, “Don’t do anything on this list. You got an A.”

I remembered the lesson. Or I remembered way too much about Rat Patrol! :D (I haven’t seen for decades.)

Ooo, I adored Sam. I still have all the books and re-read them occasionally. (Even hand-wrote terrible marysue fics about Rat Patrol in my teens.) BTW, DH can recognize HG/EB in every anonymous jerry role he played in Combat or other war shows because of his accent..real German accent as opposed to bit part players who speak their German lines with US accent.

Do you remember the episode where Sam and Hans were chained together? I have it on vid tape someplace.

Oh, yes, I had that episode saved on VHS, too, and now I have it on DVD. :-)

I watch Y&R due to EB. Once they had his character speaking on the phone to someone in Europe. In German. I may have squeed.

I still have two books, but the other one I owned I lent to a friend, who got caught reading it in class and the teacher took it away. I went to the teacher and protested and got nowhere. It remains one of those things that I would go back and fix if I had a time machine. :-D

That, and the gym teacher who said in response to my plea of a sore throat being treated with antibiotics: "If you're well enough to come to school, you're well enough to participate in gym class." So I ran through the woods in October and spent the next two weeks at home with tonsilitis. Grrr.

Gah! I had one of 'those' kinds of gym teachers too. Someone hit my ankle with the door on the way outside. I was whining about it and she did the old 'suck it up' routine. Ankle swelled to size of melon by the time I got to the playing field. Scared the bejeezes out of her. :o)

As for the books, I sometimes see them on ebay. Or try Amazon. I learned the hard way never to loan out a book I treasure, so if you'd like to visit and spend the whole time reading my copies, you're mighty welcome.
