So did we - but in our defense it was over 90 here today and the house was just miserably stuffy. The boxers were *not* liking the sudden heatwave. Me either if truth be told. bluck.
I am just plain a wimp at times. And menopause sucks. Freeze in the winter, bundle up, have a hot flash, strip down, adjust thermostat, bundle back up, freeze again, adjust thermostat, have a hot flash....
But it still beats the summer, when sometimes there's nothing to do except jump into a cold shower or melt!
Ugh, JEALOUS. We have window-units and Dad hasn't put them in yet, of course, so I'm sitting here MELTING. *considers inviting myself to your place, lol*
Our high was 84, but it never got quite that warm indoors. It was 79 upstairs when I finally closed the windows and turned on the air. Heading towards 76 and already feeling marvellous. Ahhhhh.
Argh, it's more menopause than anything else. I was perfectly comfortable and cool not five minutes ago, and now I'm burning up again, even though it must be down to at least 77 by now.
It was on the digital cable Light Classical channel. Something Suite - a country's name I think. If I were listening to Dvorak that I own, it would be New World Symphony or Slavonic Dances, or a cello concerto.
I still have sweaters hanging on the back of my chair, because I was all bundled up just two days ago. *boggles*
101? Kill me now. I hate menopause. I was feeling wonderful a few minutes ago as the A/C moved the temp down towards 76, but then came a hot flash and I'm sitting here with sweaty hair on the back of my neck. *sighs*
I wonder why I seem to get wimpier at night? Maybe I have more hot flashes then. It was obviously warmer up here 5 hours ago then it was when I caved and turned on the A/C 45 minutes ago.
When I passed by the thermostat and saw that it was a 78° in the house, I took it upon myself to switch the HVAC over to "cool".
It was wonderful to have such control! Our A/C broke last summer, and I had to suffer through several very melty days until we could get the unit replaced (hey, we made the thing last for nearly 25 years, and they're not supposed to last but 10). At the same time, I worked at the local Army post with three menopausal women by day who kept the office A/C set to "arctic".
One of my friends jokes about how the Titanic would've been fine if they'd just strapped some menopausal women to the boat - they would've melted the ice. *g*
And out here in Ecotopia, I'm wondering if the temperature is ever going to get up to 60.
I've been having hot flashes for over 5 years now . . . I'm not sure whether that's a contributing factor to global warming of not. But the damned things never hit when I'm cold. Oh, no.
But have you ever noticed feeling really super-cold right before a hot flash hits? I couldn't tell you how many times I've gone to put on a sweater, or a second sweater, only to be stripping down to a tank top 30 seconds later. LOL
