Argh, it's more menopause than anything else. I was perfectly comfortable and cool not five minutes ago, and now I'm burning up again, even though it must be down to at least 77 by now.
So it's now 3 degrees cooler, with no humidity, and I'm sitting here with damp hair on the back of my neck. Again. Yes, hot flash for sure. But I'm cooler, just damp atm.
Wish my PC were under the ceiling fan. I only sit right under it when I watch TV.
I'm sitting here, under the ceiling fan, at my computer and watching NCIS on tv. :-) (The episode is "Bait" which has Michael Welch, aka, Mini-Jack in it. He's a very good actor.)
The A/C just came back on again. I don't think our system works very well. It was only off for like five minutes, and it's dark outside and can't be that hot.
I have a ceiling fan right over my bed, and during the summer I usually crank up the air right before retiring and then shut it off. AND turn the thermostat on my waterbed waaaay down.
This time of year, the temps at night drop to the low 70s or high 60s, so it helps. Plus, the people above me run their a/c a *lot*. That helps cool my 'roof'.
I've found the difference is negligible. It may have to do with the window of choice being at the end of my galley kitchen. It's no worse than if I cooked a roast all day in the oven, only without running the oven. :-)
My SIL is all about the crock pot. I have no idea how to use one. She had two and gave one to my father, but apparently he lost the cord to it... somewhere. Or I would have had to attempt to figure out how to use one the last time I was up there!
Oh, I have this feeling there are a whole group of extraneous cords lurking somewhere. The problem is that I found the cords at an entirely different time than I went looking for a cord.
Ah! I see what you mean. Finding the cord *there* rather than finding a *new* cord. Mine was apparently eaten by the moving van along with a bunch of other stuff in the same box. :-)
Suggestion. Go look for something else.
When you trip over the bag of cords, go put the whole bag in the crock pot.
Go back and start looking for the crock pot cord.
You're sure to then find what you were originally looking for.
Sadly, at the end of all this, you won't remember where the crock pot is.
LOL - I do remember moving the crockpot into somewhere less accessible, since it couldn't be used without a cord! Now if I find the cord I'll have to go hunting the crockpot. *nods*

And leaving the window open a crack when it's -5 degrees is INSANE.
I worked with a woman once who complained when it was a little too warm in the office: "There's no air in here!"
I always wanted to tell her: "Yeah, well go outside! There's plenty of hot moist air out there!"
