If you don't know or care about the scene that was cut from the SGA episode Trio, then you don't need to read this.  It was cut, so it ain't canon.  

But for me, just knowing that it exists out there in some form calls for: 

REBUTTAL

“So.”

 

“So?”

 

“Apparently, according to Walter, he heard from Sheppard that McKay told him that Sam was telling people that the two of you have a thing going on. You’re going to retire, yadda yadda yadda.”

 

“Crap.”

 

“Yeah.”

 

“You’re pissed, aren’t you?”

 

“No. No, no. You know how much I love Sam.”

 

“Yeah. The problem is that I love her, too, and she knows it.”

 

“Yeah. She knows it. She just doesn’t get it.”

 

“Why didn’t she marry Shanahan?”

 

“We know why.”

 

“Yeah. Just… why?”

 

“Because that would make our lives too easy?”

 

“I wish.” Jack held Daniel more tightly.

Heh. Intergalactic telephone. Doesn't Jack wonder what the original phrase may have been? Maybe Sam said she likes green eggs and ham. You can see where the confusion would come in and how it could easily get distorted. ;-)

She could have meant Hammond, but I think Walter would take issue. Davis, but she wouldn't be able to stop laughing at the Princess tattoo. Barrett, but he is still alive. Ahh, there are so many men in Washington...

Has to be someone older and thinking about retirement. So, really, Hammond fits the bill perfectly. He's already retired from the Air Force, after all. LOL

You are so right, though. First of all, the source is RODNEY MCKAY. And we all know how fast he talks. Who knows what he actually said to John (without closed captioning)?
